Our first Skatetime Representative is Joel Ericson. Joel has managed and operated our Nashville, Tennessee office for 3 years now. He graduated from Blackman High School where he met his lovely wife of 8 years, Ally, in Spanish class. Ally is an amazing hair stylist at Element Salon in Brentwood, she actually has a few clients that are parents of students who have skated with Skatetime in their schools! Joel and Ally live in Murfreesboro with their son, who is now in Kindergarten at Blackman Elementary. He enjoys dressing up for Halloween, anything scary, animals, and music.
Prior to working at Skatetime, Joel started his working career at McDonalds and worked there for 3 years. He went on to work for Apple for a year, and then gained his CDL and was a Delivery Merchandiser for Coca-Cola for another year. He then joined Skatetime and has been running the Nashville office since.
When Joel is not working at Skatetime, he is a professional guitarist. He has been in 6 different bands, along with working as a session musician. His bands have toured the East Coast a few times and have shared the stage with artists such as Escape the Fate, Aaron Tippin, Falling in Reverse, All That Remains, P.O.D, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and many more. He started playing drums when he was 11 years old, switched to guitar at 13, and has been playing music for 14 years now. After writing several albums, co-writing songs with other artists, he plans to continue pursuing his dream of touring the world someday.
Joel first learned to skate in Atlanta, Georgia when he was 7 years old. He quickly learned after skating all day at the rink that his dad brought him to. Ironically, a year later Joel broke his wrist skating outside when he tripped over broken pavement that his father told him to avoid. That was the last time he had skated until getting hired on at Skatetime. He enjoys working at Skatetime because he loves getting to see kids get passionate about something that isn't on a screen. Especially when they are hesitant until they get a pair of skates on.
Fun Fact about Joel: "I once scared off a mother bear with two cubs with Collective Soul and James Taylor. My dad and I went camping with my best friend and his dad, up in Montana. We camped at a lake, and later that night heard and saw the three bears roaming around our camp, getting a little too close to us my dad flipped on his Palm Pilot and started playing “Gel” by Collective Soul and the bears ran off. He kept the music playing all night to keep the bears away"
